State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

The Museum of History of Pechory invites everybody to attend the opening of the exhibition of book-miniatures created by an icon-painter from St. Petersburg Georgiy Panaiotov. The exhibition entitled “Saint Isaac the Dalmatian and other saints” will open in the Museum of History of Pechory on May 23 at 16.00.

   

The exhibition features book miniatures depicting different saints: St.Isaac the Dalmatian, St.Pantaleon, Astrakhan saints, St. Gerasim and other saints. These book miniatures were created by the icon painter in the period from 2014 to 2017.

 

The artist in his miniatures reflects the most important events in the lives of the saints, being true to the old canons and creating scenes full of life and emotional tension.

 

Georgiy Panaiotov graduated from St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin. He is known as a prominent icon painter, the creator of iconostases for churches in St. Petersburg, Leningrad Region and other cities in Russia and abroad.

 

The exhibition has been organized together with The State Museum Monument "St. Isaac’s Cathedral".
