State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

30 September 2021

We invite you to visit the exhibition of Vyacheslav Yurievich Zabelin, an artist from St. Petersburg taht is open in the Museum of History of Pechory.

VIK – is an artist and a poet, a bright representative of Leningrad underground. His creative work is phantasmagorical in style and content. When painting he reflects on canvas his associations, visions, feelings, recollections, which becoming visual images whimsically intertwine and overlap each other. The artist’s works of art are part of the collection of the State Hermitage, the State Russian Museum, the Literary and Memorial museum of F.M. Dostoevskiy, the Museum of non-conformist art and the museum and galleries of Russia, Europe and the USA.

One of VIK’s personal exhibitions was organized in the Crimea astrophysical observatory. His friendship with astrophysicists, observation of star and moon vedute with the use of telescope strongly influenced VIK’s world view just like meetings with the monks of Pskov-Pechory Assumption monastery in early 1970-s. Later VIK ran across the photo of the Cross Constellation, taken by a Canadian Hubble telescope. Everything on Earth takes place under the Cross constellation – this author’s philosophical postulate forms the basis of the exhibition. The central place is occupied by the painting of Truvor’s Cross in Izborsk.

The exhibition features 38 paintings, created in 1990 – 2000-s, landscapes of city and village life, still life paintings and an artists’ self-portrait.

The exhibition is open daily from 10.00 a.m. to 18.00 p.m. in Pechory, Mezhdunarodnaya str., 6.
